Dear Ministry Partner,
Greetings from Sri Lanka! In just a couple of hours, Amanda and I will be leaving the beautiful country of Sri Lanka after an amazing time of ministry and evangelism here in this great country. Our time here started with some opposition from local religious leaders, but Jesus prevailed in an amazing way!
Our trip began with a pastors and leaders conference where we trained over 200 pastors and church leaders from all over the country at a local Assembly of God retreat center. Many of these pastors have completely laid down their lives to serve the Lord, planting churches in the most remote places and teaching people about Jesus for the very first time. It was a very special time for these pastors to focus on Jesus and be refreshed for the work ahead.
After the conference, our crusade began in another very remote place, several hours from the retreat center. This crusade was strategically located in the hill country region of Sri Lanka that had absolutely no church or Christians for many miles.
On the first day of the crusade, we got a message from our crusade director that a local priest, from a different religion, contacted the authorities asking them to shut down this crusade for fear that people might become Christian. God gave us favor with the authorities and our crusade director invited the local police to also attend the meetings to see for themselves what we were preaching. They attended the first two nights and after realizing that we weren’t causing any problems, they left and allowed the crusade to continue!
In all, we saw over 200 people make first time decisions for Christ and hundreds of people heard the Gospel for the very first time! The crusade concluded on Saturday night and on Sunday we planted the very first church in the region close to the crusade grounds. Over 100 new believers showed up on Sunday morning and are starting this new journey of following Jesus. It was one of the most beautiful things to witness. The church was full of brand new believers who had never heard of Jesus before our crusade and are now excited to learn more about Jesus and follow him the rest of their lives! Praise God!
Our next crusade in South Asia will be in November and we’re going to another very remote place, bringing the Gospel to the masses. We’re expecting this crusade to be the largest of the year and we’re still in need of raising the rest of the support for that crusade.
